MAKEOVER FOR ROCHDALE STATION asset 1

Rochdale station is getting a makeover courtesy of Northern Rail, which manages the station.

The work follows a recent ‘meet the manager’ session when Northern Rail asked customers and staff what they liked, didn’t like and what they felt could be improved. In response to their feedback a variety of work is underway to improve the station environment including:

Jamie Ross, Area Director, Northern Rail said: “We’re making a lot of small changes that we hope will make a big difference to customers using Rochdale Station. This £80,000 project is scheduled for completion in October and we’ll continue to look at ways we can improve the facilities we offer our customers.”

Councillor Allen Brett, the Rochdale spokesperson and Vice Chair on Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority, added: “We will only be able to encourage more people to use public transport if stations as well as services are improved. I’m delighted that this work is being carried out at the train station. I hope it will be just the start of a major public transport investment in Rochdale.”
