Northern Rail’s station supervisor at Blackpool North, Julie Mcleod, was named ‘Station Staff Member of the Year’ at the RailStaff Awards 2007, beating off competition from Central Trains and Network Rail in the final.
Julie was nominated for the award by colleagues and passengers and commended for her outstanding customer service, commitment and dedication, and her consistently cheerful manner.
After picking up her award Julie said: “It was a surprise but I’m delighted and would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
“I‘ve worked at Blackpool North for eight years and still enjoy coming to work as much as ever - no day is ever the same!”
Heidi Mottram, Managing Director, Northern Rail, said: “Our station employees across the network do a fantastic job and it’s wonderful that Julie has been recognised for the great job she does”.
The RailStaff awards, which celebrate the people who keep the UK rail industry moving, were held at the ICC in Birmingham and hosted by pop guru and former railway worker, Pete Waterman.
