Northern Rail is introducing new services for the Cumbrian Coast line as part of its winter timetable, which comes into operation on Sunday 9 December.
From Monday 10 December a new weekday evening service will be introduced between Whitehaven and Workington. Departing Whitehaven at 21.22, the service will call at Parton and Harrington on request and arrive in Workington at 21.38.
The 17.27 Carlisle – Barrow-in-Furness service, which currently operates Monday – Thursday and Saturdays only, will also run on Fridays from 14 December.
Steve Butcher, Area Director, Northern Rail said: “We continually review our services to ensure they are meeting the needs of our customers.
“We are working closely with Cumbria County Council and the local Community Rail Partnership to develop the Cumbrian Coast Line. We’ve already brought in additional carriages to meet extra demand for services in the summer months, we’ll be running the Cumbrian ‘Christmas Cracker’ every Sunday in December.”
