Northern Rail, working in partnership with Tees Valley Joint Venture Strategy and Middlesbrough Council, is introducing more trains between Middlesbrough and Nunthorpe as part of its winter timetable, which comes into operation on Sunday 9 December.

From Monday 10 December there will be five additional services in both directions Monday to Friday and on a Saturday.

John Naisby, Stakeholder Manager, Northern Rail, said: “We continually review our services to ensure they are meeting the needs of our customers. The additional services will benefit a significant number of current passengers and also encourage more people to use our services.”

Councillor Ron Lowes, Executive Member for Transport added: “Middlesbrough Council has worked very closely with Northern Rail to get these extra services put on. We are delighted that they will provide an alternative to using the car. The extra afternoon peak journey back from Middlesbrough will be very welcome to shoppers and commuters.”
