Executive Member for Lifelong Learning Councillor Richard Harker said 'This event is really exciting as everyone gets the chance to hear and see bands who maybe stars of the future. Leeds City Council is happy to be working in partnership with Northern on such a unique project.'

The NorthernTraX campaign is a diversionary initiative, launched by Northern that uses music to engage youngsters and discourage them from trespassing on the railway tracks. For more information, to upload your own music or legally download free tracks log onto www.northerntrax.net.

Malcolm Brown, Area Director, Northern said: ' Trespass on the railway is one of the biggest safety issues faced by the rail industry. The group of people most at risk, and indeed the most regular offenders, are youngsters who often see the railway as an exciting playground.

'Initiatives such as NorthernTrax, Breeze on Tour and the recently launched NorthernArt give young people the opportunity to have fun, get creative and try something new in a safe environment.'
