Do I need to hand anything in to take part in the promotion?
The short answer to this is no! If two adults are travelling together you should ask for a Duo ticket and the staff at the ticket office or on-train conductor will provide a ticket to your chosen destination. The Duo offers a full price return ticket and the second adult return ticket at half price when two adults travel together and return the same day on selected routes.

What are the average savings customers can enjoy with a Duo ticket?
2 adults will save 25% on the total cost of your return journeys.

When will the promotion end?
This is not a promotional offer with an end date - Duo tickets are a permanent Northern Rail ticket.

The prices for Duo tickets will next be updated on 7th September 2008.

At what times of the day are the Duo tickets available?
In general, tickets are valid from 0930 on Mondays to Fridays; with some valid from 0830 on certain routes. Duo tickets are valid at anytime at weekends and bank holidays apart from December when they are not available on Saturdays or Sundays. Check the Routes and Conditions page for more details.

Where can I use a Duo ticket?
You can travel across many routes on the Northern Rail network with a Duo.

Where can I purchase a Duo ticket?
Duo tickets can be purchased from the ticket office at staffed train stations. They may also be purchased on-train from conductors but only when you board the train at an unstaffed station or when the ticket office is closed.

Can I use a Duo ticket on other train services such as First TransPennine Express?
Yes you can. The Duo ticket can also be used on First TransPennine Express, Merseyrail Electrics, Hull Trains, NXEC, East Midlands Trains, Cross Country Trains and Virgin Trains services when you travel on Northern Rail routes with a Duo Ticket.

Can I buy a Duo ticket in advance?
Yes you can purchase the Duo in advance from ticket offices at any staffed train station.

Does the ticket apply to a child and an adult travelling together?
No. The Duo ticket only applies when two adults are travelling together.
